Photo: Orville, wife Faye & two boys from 1955/56s when they
stopped in at the Stout farm in Kilbourne, Mason co. Illinois.
Probably the shortest of the Hasty boys at 6' even.
Went into the Air Force as soon as he was old enough.
Married "the girl next door" and probably one of my
favorites out of the Uncles, besides Billy who was more
my age and like an older brother. Orville had always been
thought of as a "slow Learner" but now a days his diagnosis
would definitely be Dyslexia...a condition he shared with a
Sister #6 Hasty and not at all understood in those days.
He tells of being locked in closet at school til he learned
to read his assignment...which he finally figured out the
story by looking at the pictures and imagining how the
story should go.
Orville was quiet and easy going, always looking out for
the younger siblings and trying to keep #12 Hasty out of
fights... or holding up for him when he was in a fight.
#12 just couldn't learn to keep his mouth shut and never could
"whip his way out of a wet paper bag" according to Uncle Orville
. If the two boys were chosen to be on separate teams for
sandlot baseball games, they would always get into a fight,,ALWAYS.. everyone would wait til it was over then go back to playing ball.
You never got between brothers or family when there was a disagreement.

Orville , wife & family currently reside in Rodgers, Ark.
Run a little country Store after losing the "chicken farm
to a fire". Can you say FRIED CHICKEN.. Orville still has
a wonderful sense of humor and seems to be alot like his
Grandpa Simpson from all the stories I have heard about
him (Grandpa Simpson).
During The Viet Nam War, Uncle Orville Air Force, front l
ine communications, Uncle Joe Air Force, and Uncle Wayne,
Navy (Interprise) were all in the same area.
Resulting from all the front line activity Uncle Orville
went thru a period of heavy drinking and Mental collapse
and was refused the option to return to Viet Nam.
Each of the Uncles have dealt with their demons and
are retired but often remain aloof from the rest of the
Family. Orville suffered a stroke 10 years ago but
remains (in his own words) FUNCTIONAL. He still has
a great sense of humor!!
