He planned his vacations around them and always wanted them to be held out in California. Unfortunately he never got his wish, even when his Mom lived out there. The Clan had scattered all across the USA as they grew older and found better jobs outside of Illinois. This photo is cut from the 84 family reunion at Riverside Park, Havana, Il.

This photo is one of five that I recieved from "cousins". I love the dress and happy smiles that is shown here. No wonder Uncle Otis fell in love and spent 63 years with Her.
Natural Blonde, blue eyed and always smiling.
I spent some time living with them in the early 60's out in California and The Love that They shared was very apparent.

From Shirley (fentress) date Feb 19, 2006
My grandmother is Orris Simpson Fentress, sister to Allie Maude Simpson. My parents are Harland Francis Fentress and Sarah Aldean Hallgarth. I was born in Westfir, Lane Co, Oregon. My sisters are Cheryl Lou, Sherry Dene, Francis Christine, Harland F. Jr., and Laurel Suzanne.
I have lived most of my life in Washington State; and some in Oregon. 18 mos ago my husband and I moved to Troy IL. We are currently moving to Owensboro KY.
While I was very young, my dad didn't allow our family to attend any church. He felt that all churches were hypocrytical. When I was 12 yrs old, Otis and Dorothy lived in Springfield OR. At that time we lived in Springfield OR as well. Otis convinced my dad to allow missionary Elders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to come into our home and teach me and my siblings. However, my dad was not interested. On Oct. 29, 1962, my brother's 8th birthday, Otis baptized and confirmed me and my siblings except Laurel, as she was under baptimal age (8) being 4yrs. My mother joined 6 mos. later. Laurel was baptized 4 yrs later in WA. My dad joined in 1989. Dad passed away 29 Apr. 1994. My mother passed away 2 May 2005. I am the only one of my siblings active in the church. I am eternally grateful to Otis for blessing my life and my children's lives with the gospel. My husband is also a LDS member of pioneer breed from UT. All of my children are active LDS members. Because of Otis, my life has been enriched beyond words. We are a very close and happy family. Thanks to Otis.
